Antimicrobial resistance is a global problem, and since the AMR Ambassador network was formed, Ambassadors from around the world have convened international meetings, participated in AMR master classes, launched scientific collaborations, and pursued policy goals. At disAMR, we aim to serve this unique global network, and in this issue we’re launching a new monthly feature: a conversation with an innovative, important or otherwise intriguing AMR Ambassador.

Our first conversation features Jayaseelan “Jay” Murugaiyan, a professor of biological sciences and health engineering at SRM University in Andhra Pradesh, India. Jay has helped convene AMR Ambassadors for a multinational study on AMR in biofilms, an international AMR meeting, and a scholarly study on new ways to replenish the faltering antibiotic pipeline. Most recently, he has tapped the AMR Ambassador Network to examine what’s known and what’s not about AMR in biofilms, and what’s next in the field. Read on to learn about an emerging field of research that could point to new ways to counter AMR.

We’re also looking for other Ambassadors to feature in these monthly conversations, and we welcome your suggestions. Just drop us a line at info@disamr.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
